Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 79 runs in the first ODI of three match series where Azhar Ali the new Pakistan captain lead the team for this first time. Pakistan made 8 changes in the playing XI from the world cup squad and this kind of result was expected with some of the big guns either retired or left out of the squad. This will be a learning curve for this very inexperienced side with a brand new captain.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first and the decision turned out to be spot on with Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal scoring a massive 132 and Mushfiqur Rahim also scored a hundred which guided Bangladesh to 329 a big target to chase for Pakistan side.
Azhar Ali opened the innings with Sarfraz Ahmad and they gave Pakistan a decent start but none of the middle order batsman got going and Pakistan were bundled out for just 250 runs.
