Arsenal come into this game on the back of a surprise defeat against Everton in midweek while City finally ended their winless streak by defeating Watford. Pep Guardiola will be without same key players in Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero thats makes Arsenal slightly favourite going into the match.
Arsenal 2-2 Manchester City – 02 April 2017
[ Premier League 2017 Match ]
05′ 0 – 1 Leroy Sane scores early in first half to put Manchester City in lead at Emirates Stadium.
40′ 1 – 1 Theo Walcott equalized for Arsenal after constant pressure by the gunners.
42′ 1 – 2 Sergio Aguero however put City back in the lead just before halftime break.
Both teams have some injury worries but City are the one hit hard since start of december. Not only they will be without suspended Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho they are likely to lose Gundogan through long term injury which really weakens them up. Arsenal on the other hand are likely to go with the same lineup which took the field against Everton in midweek.
This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Sunday, 18th December. Confirmed lineups will be made available 1 hour ahead of the kickoff.
Match Predictions: Last time these two meet was back in december at Emirates Stadium and it was a superb 2-1 win for Arsenal with two first half goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud ensured three points. Man City got knocked out of the champions league in the hands of Real Madrid in midweek and struggling with injuries has a massive task of getting something of this game. A defeat will put a bid dent of City season and with Pep Guardiola coming in as manager next season he won’t be happy with Europa League place and Manuel Pelligrini won’t care where City finishes now. I am going with another 2-1 win for Arsenal in this one.
