Arsenal come into this game on the back of a absolute superb form having won 10 of the last 12 games in all competitions the other two being draws. Only other team in a better form in English football is their Sunday’s Opponent City who have won 15 of the last 16 games and currently undefeated this season. It sets up an absolute cracking game of football where we can expect goals glore. Both teams likes to play beautiful quick passing football and both are capable of opening up opponents.
Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City – April 2017
[ Emirates FA Cup 2017 Match ]
45′ City dominated the opening 20 minutes but Arsenal started to get back in the game towards the end of first half. Overall City looked like better team for most part in opening 45 minutes
62′ 0 – 1 Sergio Aguero
72′ 1 – 1 Nacho Monreal
101′ 2 – 1 Alexis Sanchez
Both teams have some injury worries but City are the one hit hard since start of december. Not only they will be without suspended Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho they are likely to lose Gundogan through long term injury which really weakens them up. Arsenal on the other hand are likely to go with the same lineup which took the field against Everton in midweek.
This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Sunday, 18th December. Confirmed lineups will be made available 1 hour ahead of the kickoff.
Match Predictions: Last time these two meet was back in december at Emirates Stadium and it was a superb 2-1 win for Arsenal with two first half goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud ensured three points. Man City got knocked out of the champions league in the hands of Real Madrid in midweek and struggling with injuries has a massive task of getting something of this game. A defeat will put a bid dent of City season and with Pep Guardiola coming in as manager next season he won’t be happy with Europa League place and Manuel Pelligrini won’t care where City finishes now. I am going with another 2-1 win for Arsenal in this one.
