Inter Milan are set to host AS Roma in the Italian Serie A 2017-18 match on Sunday, 20th January 2018 at San Siro. A big game in the league however both teams have kind of lost their way in the title race after such a good start this season. Now both are fighting for champions league spots and only three points separate the two as we head to head to the business end of the season. The game will kickoff at around 20:45 CET / 19:45 uk time and we will have live links closer to the kickoff right here on this page.
Both teams are pretty much unchanged from last season and apart from couple of changes here and there we will see familiar sides taking the field come saturday night. Last year, AS Roma defeated Inter Milan on both league games completing a rare double and going into this weekend they will be favourite to take all three points again
Inter Milan 1-3 AS Roma – February 2017
[ Italian Serie A 2017 Match ]
12′ 0 – 1 Radja Nainggolan scored early in first half to put away side AS Roma in lead.
56′ 0 – 2 Radja Nainggolan was at it again after the break as he continue his impressive run goal scoring form.
81′ 1 – 2 Mauro Icardi
85′ 1 – 3 Diego Perotti
Team News & Lineups: AS Roma on the other hand are also in good knick and although trail Juventus by 7 points and highly unlikely to make a title challenge they must keep winning games to stay clear in the race for champions league qualification. Last time these two meet was back in October when Roma came ran out 2-1 winners but alot has changed since than and I expect Inter to put on a good show this Sunday.
Inter Milan on the other hand has experienced squad but most of their top players are at the wrong end of careers. Captain Mauro Icardi has huge responsibility who has scored 6 of the 8 inter goals in Serie A this season. He will start upfront with Perisic playing in no.10 role. Four man midfield of Candreva, Jao Mario, Ever Banega and Gary Medel will provide some stability in central areas but Inter’s problems lie in their defense David Santon, D’Ambrosio. Miranda and Ranocchia are expected to start.
Roma are a free flowing side who have most of their big name players back in the lineup while Eden Dzeko is Europe’s top marksmen on current form having netted 27 goals in all competitions so far. Inter on the other hand rely heavily on Icardi but in recent weeks Perisic and Jao Mario are playing some good football as well. These are the kind of gams where Roma struggle and I expect them to drop points here.
