Serie A will have one of the biggest games in the Italy as fourth place AS Roma host third place Inter Milan on Sunday, 02 October 2016 at the Stadia de Olympico in Roma. After slow starts to the season both teams have picked up some form and a win is vital for both teams to keep pace with the champions league spots. It was Roma who came out winners with a 2-1 win and Inter continue to take one step forward and two back.
AS Roma 2-1 Inter Milan Highlights
[ Italian Serie A Match 2016-17 ]
05′ 1 – 0 Edin Dzeko Eden Dzeko gave Roma the lead in just 5th minute of the game. Roma hold out for that 1-0 lead for most part but things got interesting towards the end of second half.
72′ 1 – 1 Ever Banega equalized in 72 minutes to setup a grand stand finish.
76′ 2 – 1 Konstantinos Manolas goal minutes after Banega strike put Roma back in lead and thats how the game ended.
AS Roma currently has perfect record at home having won all their home games so far but its their away form which has been questionable resulting in their Champions League exit in the playoff stage. Roma has won all three of their home league games while yet to win away from home. Inter Milan on the other hand has the best away record in the league with 2 wins and a defeat just like Juventus. Inter will go into the game slightly favourite while pressure is on Luciano Spalletti who has come under fire for not giving 40-year old Totti enough time on the pitch. Having lost 3-1 against Torino last weekend, Roma must take three points to stay in touching distance with lucrative top three positions in the league.
Team News & Lineups: Spaletti is expected to start with three man midfield of Radja Nainggolan, Strootman and De Rossi while Muhammad Salah, Parotti and Dzeko to start in attacking roles. Florenzi and Peres set to keep fullback roles while highly rated Manolas and Fazio to start in central defense.
Inter Milan on the other hand has experienced squad but most of their top players are at the wrong end of careers. Captain Mauro Icardi has huge responsibility who has scored 6 of the 8 inter goals in Serie A this season. He will start upfront with Perisic playing in no.10 role. Four man midfield of Candreva, Jao Mario, Ever Banega and Gary Medel will provide some stability in central areas but Inter’s problems lie in their defense David Santon, D’Ambrosio. Miranda and Ranocchia are expected to start.
Roma has scored the most number of goals in Italian Serie A (14) while Inter are struggling to cut open defenses. Inter last league win against Roma at Olimpico Stadium was back in 2009 and going into this weekend’s game pressure is on both sides to get something out of this match. I expect Roma score goals in this one and going with a narrow 2-1 win for the homeside.
