FC Barcelona are set to play their last game of the season this Saturday, 27th May 2017 which will be the final of Copa Del Rey to be played at the Vicente Calderon in Madrid. Barcelona are odds on favourites to lift the trophy as they take on Deportivo Alaves who are playing their first cup final. Alaves already played Barcelona twice winning 2-1 at Camp Nou and losing 6-0 at home back in February 2017. If you missed the live action, you can always tune in here for extended match highlights.
FC Barcelona 3-1 Alaves Highlights
[ Copa Del Rey 2017 Final ]
30′ 1 – 0 Lionel Messi
33′ 1 – 1 Theo Hernandez
45′ 2 – 1 Neymar
45′ 3 – 1 Francisco Alcacer
Barcelona currently sit second in the table with 45 points after 21 league games thats just 1 place and 1 point behind Real Madrid who are currently leading the title race with 46 points. However Madrid do have an advantage with 2 games in hand. On Saturday Barcelona can really get back into the title race with a solid win over Alaves and go 2 points clear at top as Madrid are playing later in the night.
However they take on Alaves side who already defeated Barcelona at Camp Nou earlier in the season. Alaves are having a wonderful season as they are pretty safe from relegation and also qualified for Copa Del Rey final which will be against Barcelona in May 2017.
FC Barcelona 5-0 Alaves – 11 February 2017
[ Spanish La Liga 2017 Match ]
37′ 0 – 1 Luis Suarez scored just before the halftime to finally break the deadlock in 37th minute of the game.
40′ 0 – 2 Neymar made it 2-0 minutes later as Barcelona went into cruise mode and top of the table for atleast a few hours.
59′ 0 – 3 Lionel Messi
63′ 0 – 4 Alexis
66′ 0 – 5 Ivan Rakitic
Possible Starting Lineups: Marc Ter Stege is set to replace Jasper Cillessen in starting lineup having sit out for Copa Del Rey tie while Neymar is set to feature alongside Messi and Suarez upfront while trusted trio of Iniesta, Busquets and Rakitic to playing in central midfield roles. This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Saturday.
Match Predictions: Barcelona’s two defeat in the league this season include that historic win by Alaves at Camp Nou earlier in the season and Luis Enrique will be hoping to avoid such result again. Messi has been in inspired form this season although he is not scoring as freely as he used to but he is more involved in the build up and creating more chances than ever. He is single handedly keeping Barcelona in the title race and this is about time for Neymar and Suarez to start firing as they head to business end of the season. I am going with a comfortable win for Barcelona in this one.
