Colombia host Chile in one of the most important CONMEBOL (South American) World Cup qualifier this Thursday night, 10 November 2016 at the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla. Only one point separate the two teams who are currently 4th and 5th respectively and a defeat for either side will put their chances of qualification in real jeopardy.
Match Highlights (English)
The next couple of qualifier holds significant importance for Colombia who will be playing Chile (10th November) followed by all important away game against Argentina (16 November) and result from both of these games might define their chances of qualification.
Chile on the other hand also have similar worries going into the game with wobbly form and Alexis Sanchez withdrawing from squad due to injury has kind of put massive pressure on Chile who need to put their inconsistant run to bed and actually win a couple of games to get back into automatic qualification places.
This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Thursday night. Colombia to start with Bacca upfront while Falcao to be part of the squad as well. James Rodriguez to play in attacking role alongside Cuadrado.
Match Predictions: This one is hard to predict, Colombia has improved alot in last few years and their have some quality players but Chile have been one of the most consistant team when it comes to big games. Last time these two meet was back in Copa America 2016 when Chile outclassed Colombia 2-0 on their way to winning the tournament. I am going with Chile to win this one.
It was Aranguiz who tapped home the opener in just 7th minute to put Chile in lead. Colombia’s shaky defence let one more in minutes later when Fuenzalida scored from close range to pretty much settle the tie.
