Croatia produce absolute class performance for best part of 75 minutes scoring two goals and looked to have the game in the bag but Milan Skoda and Necid came on substitute in second half to score twice in last 15 minutes to get valuable point which keeps them alive in the tournament. Croatia on the other hand will be gutted after such superb performance but crowd trouble allowed Czech Republic to bounce back in the game.
One of the best games in the tournament so far, Croatia dominated and raced to 2-0 lead by the 60th minute. But just when it looked like game is in the bag Skoda’s 76th minute strike ignite the comeback. Game was stopped for a few minutes when crowd troubled arupted and immediately after restart Czech were awarded a penalty where Necid scored the equalizer.
Croatia 2-0 Czech Republic
[ UEFA European Championship 2016 ]
37′ 0 – 1 Ivan Perisic scored in the first half to cap dominate Croatia first half performance.
59′ 0 – 2 Ivan Rakitic scored after the break dipping the ball over Petr Cech to make it 2-0 and settle the tie.
76′ 1 – 2 Milan Skoda late second half goal proved to be just a cancellation.
90′ 2 – 2 Tomas Necid (pen.)
It took a moment of magic from Real Madrid star Luka Modric who scored with a stunning Volley against Turkey to seal all three points while their overall performance was as good as it can get. Another similar display will surely earn them another win putting them in the knockout stages. Czech Republic on the other hand looked terrible against Spain and they need to bounce back with a better showing on Friday evening.
Possible Starting Lineups: As far as team news is concerned, Croatia will welcome the news that Vedran Corluka is fit enough to start after his nasty head clash in the opening game. Captain Darijo Srna might also be drafted in the starting lineup despite him returning to home back for his father’s funeral. So Mandzukic should keep his place in the attack while Brozovic, Ivan Rakitic and Perisic will play in attacking roles.
Czech coach has some selection headech and he might prefere David Lafata upfront and dropp Necid who looked out of sorts against Spain. This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Friday.
