England are set to take on Germany in the highly anticipated Friendly game on Wednesday night, 22 March 2017 at the Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Nordrhein-Westfalen. England will take on Lithuania following the Germany friendly as part of World Cup qualifiers. Both teams last meet back in March 2016 when England ran out 3-2 winners thanks to late flurry of goals.
Short Preview: These two national teams have alot of history between them and we can expect another cracking game of football. England’s new manager Gareth Southgate has made several surprise inclusions in the team with Jermain Defoe and Luke Shaw getting call ups while Wayne Rooney has been ommitted from the squad.
England ended their group stage of European Championship with a another lackluster 0-0 draw against Slovakia while Wales snatched the top spot with a impressive win over Russia. Now England will face runners up of Group F which might be one the three in Hungary, Portugal or Iceland. England dominated the possession as Slovakia sat back for most part but England failed to cut open Slovakian defense on consistent basis.
Expected Lineups: England manager Roy Hodgson started with the same lineup against Slovakia but he will be eager to change things around as both Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling has failed to impress while Vardy and Sturridge came on second half subs to win the game for England. We might see Sturridge starting upfront while Vardy and Lallana playing on the either side of the flank.
Jan Kozak, Slovakian coach dont have any major injury worries but Norbert Gyombér is slight doubt going into the england game. This is how I expect both teams to start on Monday night.
Match Predictions: England has played well but their failure to take chances has kind of made things difficult for them to kill the games off. Hodgson might opt to start with Vardy and Sturridge on monday night which will give them much needed killer instinct. Wayne Rooney, Adam Lallana and Eric Dier has impressed in the midfield and they should have enough quality to see off Slovakia. I am going with a narrow 1-0 win for England in this one.
