Manchester United are set to visit White Hart Lane for the premier league game on Sunday, 14th May 2017 as they take on Tottenham for the last time at this stadium before spurs move to their new home in couple of years time. The game will kickoff at around 16:30 uk time and SkySports will have live coverage of the game. United are currently trailing third place liverpool and fourth place city by 5 and 4 points respectively and they must win this game to keep their slender hopes of finishing in top 4.
Tottenham 2-0 Manchester United Highlights
[ Premier League 2017 Match ]
06′ 1 – 0 Victor Wanyama scores early on in the game with a thumping header to put Tottenham 1-0 in lead.
48′ 2 – 0 Harry Kane made it 2-0 just after the break to pretty much settle the tie.
Man Utd vs Spurs Short Preview: United are in similar position like last season where they drifted off the top 4 in december and with just 2 wins in last 11 league matches Mourinho has alot to answer. Spurs on the other hand are a decent team who can blow hot and cold any weekend and United faithfuls will be hoping to catch Tottenham on a bad day.
United are coming into this game on the back of nervy 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo at Old Trafford which ensured their passage to 2017 UEFA Europa League final. Now United can win the Europa League and qualify directly to Champions League group stages and it takes the pressure away from league games which is a good omen for Mourinho men who are struggling for injuries specially in defense.
Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham Hotspurs – 11 December 2016
[ English Premier League 2016-17 Match ]
29′ 1 – 0 Henrik Mkhitaryan scored just before the half hour mark after he was put through on goal by Herrera and he unleased a superb strike to put United in lead. A deserved lead to say the least.
This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Sunday afternoon. Ibrahimovic is likely to keep his play upfront with Mkhitaryan, Pogba and Martial playing in attacking roles ahead of Carrick and Herrera. While Spurs will use similar system with Kane upfront and Eriksen, Alli and Son playing in attacking roles.
Predictions: This one is hard to predict, Even though Spurs have been playing some top notch football over the last two years they do have a “soft belly”. This United side might not be getting the results they deserve Mourinho has developed a very dynamic system which will eventually come good and I expect United to win this game to keep league season alive.
