Tottenham scored three goals inside 6 minutes in the second half to win a very difficult fixture and kept their title dreams alive. United however now trails City by 4 points as their champions league hopes hangs by a thread.
Manchester United took on Tottenham Hotspurs in the important premier league game on Sunday evening and it turned out to be a very competitive game with not much between the two sides. Game started after 30 minutes delayed as United bus was stuck in the traffic. But when it eventually started United started stronger of the two while Spurs came back into the game on either side of the break and Spurs brushed United aside with three quick goals inside 6 minutes to put the game to bed.
United surprised Tottenham with high pressing game early in first half but Spurs started to get control of the game in the later stages. Dale Alli scored in 70th minute to spurs in the lead and two quick goal followed with Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela scoring two goals inside 2 minutes take take Spurs lead to 3-0.
A must win game for both sides as Spurs had to close the gap at top of the table after Leicester City increased their lead at top of the table to 10 points while United needed three points in persuit of champions league places. Man Utd vs Spurs Short Preview: Louis Van Gaal side has two very important game this weekend as they tackle Tottenham on Sunday and travel to face West Ham at Upton Park for FA Cup quarterfinal replay on Wednesday night. Both games hold massive important as far as United’s season is concerned. Van Gaal needs to finish in top 4 to atleast stand a chance to save his job while FA Cup win will soften devastating season so far
Spurs will keep Harry Kane upfront with Erickson, Lamela and Alli playing in attacking roles while Eric Dier and Dembele to play in central midfield roles. Danny Rose and Kyle Walker to play as full backs Alderwiereld and Wimmer should playing in central defense.
Manchester United on the other hand are likely to start with Anthony Martial upfront and Rashford on the bench while Wayne Rooney might be fit enough to get a place as a substitute. Mata, Lingard, Morgan Schneiderlin and Carrick to play in midfield roles. This is how I expect both teams to lineup.
Both sides meet on the opening day of the new season and it was United who came out 1-0 winners at Old Trafford thanks to Kyle Walker own goal. But alot has changed since than as United became a frustrating, unpredictable team while Spurs has gone from strength to strength and became title hopefuls in what has been a crazy english football season.
