Tottenham took on Liverpool in the premier league game on Saturday and it turned out to be a classic english affair. Spurs playing at home started stronger and dominated the possession in early exchanges but it was Liverpool who took the lead at the stroke of half time when Firmino was brought down by Erik Lamela inside the box and referee awarded the penalty (bit harsh). James Milner stepped up to score as Liverpool leads at White Hart Lane with 45 mintues to play for.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Preview: Now both of these teams are potential Champions League hopefuls for next season but considering how the other big teams started the season it might well be between Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal who will be fighting it out for that coveted fourth place in the league. Spurs has been smart in the transfer window only bringing in squad players in already established young team who performed so well last season.
Liverpool on the other hand sold Christian Benteke for a decent sum and we can assume one or two signings coming in before the end of transfer window. Liverpool’s defense has already leaked 5 goals in the opening two matches and with Spurs looking to hit the ground running this season we might be in for a classic game of premier league football.
Last time these two meet was back in April 2016 when Harry Kane’s late goal help share the spoils after Philipe Coutinho had given Liverpool the lead. Not much has changed in both camps and we might see a very similar starting lineups this saturday.
Klopp’s arrival has improved the team in so many ways but their unpredictability has been the concern as the moment it looks like things are settling a surprise defeats follows keeping them away from champions league places. Spurs has the best attack and defense in the league and Liverpool will find hard to break down the spurs side who has only conceded 24 goals this season, lowest in the league.
Liverpool are likely to start with Danial Sturridge upfront with Philipe Coutinho and Adam Lallan playing in attacking roles with a packed midfield of James Milner, Allen and Henderson. Spurs will be hoping that Harry Kane can keep his goal scoring touch after scoring against Germany on international duty. This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Saturday.
Match Predictions: Every premier league game is hard to predict this season but Liverpool are even more unpredictable having taken points of City, Arsenal and Chelsea but sometimes struggle against bottom clubs. Spur’s has been superb this season and part of the reason is their consistent form but they do have problem when it comes to playing against traditional big teams in the league. I am going with another draw but this time both teams to score.
Daniel Sturridge produced a superb pass to find Philippe Coutinho who cut inside and scored with a belter of a shot past Hugo Lloris to make it 1-0 and give Liverpool the lead with 40 odd minutes to play for. Spurs needed to win this game to keep in touch with Leicester City and they got themselves back into the match when Harry Kane in typical fashion converted a difficult chance at the far post to make it 1-1 with half hour still to play. Liverpool will be disappointed to concede this goal as Kane was allowed to turn and shoot inside box.
