Nico Rosberg signed a lucrative new 2 year deal with Mercedes which will keep him at the team till 2018 season and the new contract comes with a massive salary hike. Nico Rosberg new contract comes with financial package of around £36 million over two years plus bonuses of grand prix wins and the f1 title. Thats massive £18 million a year or you can put it another way of £346,000 a week salary. Although new contract still put him behind Hamilton in terms of financial figures.
Mercedes and Rosberg announced the new deal back in July 2016 and that kind of put Ferrari rumor to bed and clearly shows Mercedes are happy with both Hamilton and Rosberg at the helm.
|CONTRACT LENGTH||BASIC SALARY||RACE WIN BONUS||F1 TITLE BONUS|
|2 Year (2017 & 2018)||£18 Million a year||£750,000||£5m|
Rosberg is one the verge of winning his very first Formula 1 title as he leads by 19 points going into the two races and if he were to win the title, Mercedes decision to hand him a bumper new contract will be justified. The new deal also makes him third highest paid F1 driver on the grid behind, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton.
The new deal also confirm that the trio of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull are set to remain unchanged as far as the lineups are confirmed. Ferrari has already confirmed that Kimi Raikonnen will remain team mate of Sebastian Vettel for atleast another year while Red Bull has also confirmed Daniel Ricciardo set to remain with them for 2017 atleast.
