Premier League side Stoke City has signed a 6-year deal with betting company “Bet365” for stadium naming rights and now Stoke City stadium will be known as “bet365 Stadium”. Bet365 is already Stoke’s shirt sponsors and that deal is also extended to further three years and now with stadium rights deal signed, Stoke City will earn a total yearly package from bet365 of around £8 million a year.
Stoke also revealed plans of stadium expansion and capacity will be increased to a further 1800 of the stadium. Currently Stoke stadium can hold around 30,000 fans but with new expansion which will be completed before the start of 2017-16 season the total capacity will be around 32,000. Stoke City is not the only team in English football to sell stadium naming rights as both Arsenal and City has their own lucrative stadium naming rights deal with Emirates and Etihad. While West Ham’s new Olympic stadium also signed a £6 million a year deal with a technology company starting from 2016-17 season.
