Australia Wallabies started their Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign with a impressive win over Fiji with a scoreline of 28-13 FIJI. Both teams started out even and Australia struggle to get into the rythem but as the first half goes into the later stages a definate class between the two sides was evident as both teams went into the break at 18-3 Australia. In the second half however Fiji turned the tables and ran Australia close with Wallabies registering first win of the competition.
Australia defeated Fiji with the scoreline 26-13 as Fiji fought back from first half 18-3 to run Wallabies close. Australia would need to do better if they were to qualify from this group which has England and Wales.
Australian Wallabies are currently ranked no.2 and their first world cup assignment will be against Fiji on Wednesday evening at around 16:45 uk time at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Australian coach has named a very surprising lineup for the opener against Fiji with as many as 7 players making their World cup debut with the likes of Michael Hooper, Israel Folau, Kane Douglas, Scott Sio, Scott Fardy, Tevita Kuridrani and Bernard Foley. Having said that captain Stephen Moore will lead a very experienced Australian lineup with more than 700 test caps between the squad.
Fiji made life a little difficult for the hosts England in a match where they were highly underdogs and were never expected to get a win and same can be said for Australian game. But the result of South Africa and Japan will certainly give a new hope to all the underdog teams but with that top team will also be more motivated to avoid such result against so called minnows.
Match Predictions: Australians will be well prepared for this game and having watched Fiji’s opening game against England they are likely to come out strong straight from the kickoff. I am going with an easy Wallabies win with a bonus point here.
