Amir Khan vs Kell Brook is very much possible for Summer of 2016 as Khan failed to negotiate with Manny Pacquiao and now has Kell Brook in his sights Eddie Hearns wants to stage Khan vs Brook at Wembley, London just like Groves-Froch II Rematch. The fight is expected to take place in July or early August 2016.
Amir Khan was widely tipped to fight Manny Pacquiao next but both camps failed to negotiate a deal since August 2015. Now it seems Amir Khan has left the idea of fight Pacquiao and eager to get back in the ring against British boxer Kell Brook who holds IBF walterweight title. This fight holds massive significant for both boxers career and it will be as big as Froch vs Groves in the United Kingdom. Eddie Hearns who arranged Froch-Groves fights is confident and finalizing the deal by the end of the year.
His promoter Eddie Hearns has already disclosed that both camps are in talks and he hopes to get them to an agreement for the fight for possible dates in August/September 2016. The fight of this magnitude is likely to take place in Wembley, London which can hold 80,000 fans and we can safely assume if this fight does happen stadium will be full to rafters just like Groves-Froch 2.
|FIGHT DATE||Possible date in July/August 2016|
|VENUE||Wembley Stadium In London (Most Likely)|
|BROADCASTING||Sky Box Office is the obvious candidate to get the rights in the Uk for a fight of this magnitude|
|PURSE SPLITS||Eddie Hearns already offered £5 million previously to Khan but Khan camps want bigger chunk of the money and we can expect 60/40 in favour of Amir Khan|
|TITLE||Kell Brook’s IBF Walterweight title will be up from grabs (only if he manages to defend it against Kevin Bizier|
Although the fight will only take place after Kell Brook makes mandatory defense of his IBF Walterweight title early in 2016 and we can expect Khan to take a tune up fight at the same time. Amir Khan was hoping for Pacquioa fight somewhere in April 2016 but that looks highly unlikely and Khan needs to be in the ring as soon as possible as his last fight was back in May 2015. He has only fought 5 times in last 3 years after that Danny Garcia knock out defeat.
Kell Brook on the other hand has already made 2 title defenses since winning IBF Walterweight crown from Shawn Porter back in October 2014. Kell Brook’s next fight is expected to be against Canada’s Kevin Bizier as early as January 2016. If Kell Brook successfully defend his title against Bizier he will be in perfect condition to go for mega fight against Amir Khan later in 2016.
