Anthony Joshua is set to take on Joseph Parker for the world heavyweight unification bout on Saturday night, 31st March 2018 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Joshua’s WBA, ÍBF and Parker’s IBF titles are on the line in what should be a massive fight on the night. Parker is no pushover and that gives this fight interesting scenario for Joshua who is fighting for ultimate glory to capture all heavyweight fights. If he do win on Saturday he will be just one fight away to unify the entire heavyweight division by taking on Deontay Wilder for his WBC crown.
Joshua vs Parker Official Weigh-ins: Anthony Joshua came in a stone heavier than his opponent Parker in the Friday’s official weigh-ins. Joshua hit the scale at around 17 st 4lbs thats slightly lighter than his last bout against Carlos Takam. While Joseph Parker came in at around 16 st 12 lbs. Joshua is obviously the bigger of the two both in terms of size and the actual opponents fought in the past. Both are undefeated and although its hard to see Parker winning in Joshua’s backyard, stranger things have happened in the past, specially in the heavyweight division.
What Josephy Parker brings to the table is a rugged fighter who can produce a power punch and make it ugly, Joshua on the other hand its a relatively technical boxer for a heavyweight which makes it a exciting clash between two quality heavyweights and two different styles. Parker is not only younger, fitter and pretty fast compared to Joshua, but he is no match for Joshua’s power and strength.
Joshua’s reach advantage is the key and Parker will have to break through very accurate jabs of Joshua to land a punch and thats where Joshua’s power comes into play. Parker should start faster more agile and will probably take a few early rounds but once Joshua gets into his own I expect Joshua’s to wear Parker down and possibly land killer blow by round 10.
