Nobody predicted the fight to go beyond round 4 but Dillian Whyte hold on after first round assault by Joshua. Dillian Whyte was resilient and grilled through Joshua’s power for best part of first 6 rounds. Joshua looked the better fight of course but you gotta hand it to Whyte for being there and perform way above the expectations. But it all came crashing down for him in round 7 when a big right hand stunned Whyte and from than Joshua took control and dropped Whyte who could not get up.
Anthony Joshua wanted to get some rounds under his belt as he talked about before the fight but Dillian Whyte gave him exactly that but a little more than what Joshua was expecting. Dillian Whyte was in the fight throughout and hurt Joshua on couple of occassions but Joshua’s size and power came through as he started to pick Whyte apart in 6th and 7th round and finally caught him hard first with massive right and than onslaught dropping him with superb upper-cut.
Joshua performance made two things clear first that he is pretty good prospect but lacks experience for bigger fights like Fury and Klitschko. He needs more fights and more importantly more rounds against boxers whos ability increase fight by fight. So we can safely assume Joshua won’t be fighting Tyson Fury or David Haye anytime soon.
Joshua vs Whyte Weigh-in: Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte weighed in for the big fight tomorrow night but the main attraction of the weighin was Chris Eubank Jr’s tussel with O’Sullivan.
Since Tyson Fury defeated Klitschko alot has been going on in Britain, Anthony Joshua is widely regarded potential heavyweight champion in near future and when he headlines his very first PPV event against old foe Dillian Whyte he will be eager to impress the boxing world. A fight between Joshua and Fury is already a hot topic in United Kingdom and a late 2016 or early 2017 date is being talked about but for now Joshua needs to get the better of Whyte who defeated Joshua in the amateurs.
