Canelo Alvarez knocked out Amir Khan in round 6 with devastating right, ending the night early. Canelo who was A-side in the negotiations for the fight will be getting $3.5 million guaranteed purse plus share of PPV revenue and his domestic Azteca tv deal while Amir Khan is guaranteed $2 million but he is all set to clear around $13 million from this fight with share of HBO ppv and his BoxNation tv deal back in native UK.
Its a ballsy move by Khan and by all account if he manages to win this one he will be right up there as the biggest draw in boxing but its a big if. Canelo Alvarez has improved alot since his defeat against Floyd Mayweather and he is widely regarded as the biggest draw in boxing alongside Gennedy Golovkin who he was suppose to fight this year. But boxing politics are playing its part in delaying probably the biggest fight available at the moment.

Eddie Hearns recently stated that negotiations for Khan vs Brook fight broke down due to the fact Amir Khan camp were looking for a guaranteed £10 million ($14.5) purse which is way beyond what Eddie Hearns and Matchroom boxing were prepared to offer. So Khan taking such a dangerous Canelo fight with less than half of what he was asking for Brook makes no sense for most part. But it looks like Khan is prepared to get a decent check getting beaten by Canelo and still keep Brook fight alive. So business wise Khan-Canelo is a good move but it might end up in tears if Khan get caught with a big punch putting his career into jeapordy.
ppv really ? … Kahn doesnt even deserve this fight … There is at least 8 other fighters that do Golovkin, Pac, Thurman, Brook, Porter, Bradely, Garcia and Peterson (who both beat kahn) Broner just to name a few .. the middle weight and surrounding classes is overflowing with loss-less fighters… How Kahn is ranked 5 in the world above 2 fighters he lost to is ridiculous .. i guess this will just be another tune up fight for Alvarez .. Boxing needs to get its act together and stop worrying about tarnishing someones pristine record while promoting lop sided fights… its no wonder boxing has lost its luster .. and if anyone has learned anything with the Pac v May fight the winner of the fight needs to take a much higher prize .. a winner take all motivation to fight for perhaps … if i had a 200 mill chek in the bank before the fight, wheres the motivation ?
Competitiveness, but I agree, winner vs loser purses are definitely a motivating factor.
You clearly don’t much follow boxing or just hate Khan?
