Tyson Fury becomes new WBO, WBA and IBF World Heavyweight champion of the world after beating Wladimir Klitschko with a unanimous decision in Germany. Tyson Fury had Klitschko at the back foot and confused throughout the fight and totally deserve his titles. Klitschko failed to get into his usual groove and bullying mode as Fury not only dominated but dictated the fight with his unusual style and made it awkward for Klitschko.
To be fair both fighters were poor so was the fight in general but Tyson Fury used his youth and made it really awkward for Wladimir who did not have much of a answers for Fury’s persistent movement. Fury camp won’t care as he becomes the new WBO, WBA and IBF World champion in heavyweight division.
Now Tyson Fury holds three main belts in Heavyweight division and after Fury’s win American boxer Deonter Wilder who holds the other WBC Heavyweight title tweeted that he would love to fight Fury next. Which in all fairness is another massive bout which can sell pretty well in United States. Fury can unify the division with a win over Wilder and will become the only second British boxer to do so after Lenox Lewis did it in 2003. Klitschko took home as much as $23 million from his nights work while Tyson Fury got %25 of the purse which was around $5.5 million guaranteed (his biggest of the career)
Wladimir Klitschko | Tyson Fury |
$18 Million guaranteed plus $3 to $5 million PPV share and sponsorship | $5.50 million |
What next for Wladimir Klitschko ? well he will be looking to setup a rematch but we can safely assume Fury camp would livke it in United Kingdom which is a bad news for aging Klitschko. So there is a pretty good chance you saw Klitschko for the very last time in the ring. He might consider retirement if Tyson Fury refuse to rematch or won’t agree to for another German venue.
Tyson Fury will earn around 5million (gbp) in the Klitschko fight making it his biggest pay day of the career but he has whole list of mega fights in front of his with the likes of Klitschko (rematch), Deontay Wilder or even David Haye. Klitschko has ruled out David Haye fight with a grudge of what Haye did to him twice. Fury seems to be more interested in Klitschko rematch which will offer two things 75% of the purse and credibility if he defend his titles again.
Even after the 12 round heavyweight fight Tyson Fury had energy to sing for his wife “Paris”. Fury family and friends were over joyed and tears of happiness were apparent on most of the close family.
Irish “Gypsy King” has come a long way to become world champion and now he has world at his feet for atleast until he decides to defend the titles. British media calls for Tyson Fury to calm down a bit and show more grace now that he is representing british boxing at the highest level.
Again congratulations to the big man and we will keep your updated with more boxing news and latest fights information. Heavyweight boxing has just got a new dimension and it will be interesting to see how things go from here.
Last but not the least british music legend “Rod Stewart” performed at the arena just before the ring walk. It was a terrible performance from Rod Steward who miming his way to possibly a million for couple of minute performance.
Klitschko is odds on favorite to continue his long winning streak but Tyson Fury do bring alot of power and size which Klitschko has not faced for years. Fury is not only the bigger boxer of the two but also taller and will be hoping to get Klitschko brawling. In terms of height these two are the tallest in history of heavyweigt title fight with Klitschko-6ft7ins & Fury-6ft9ins. Klitschko tends to rely alot on his superb jab while Fury usually breaks opponent down but looking at the size and power of both fighters we can safely assume one proper clean punch from either side will finish the fight.
Both fighters are schedule to start their ring walk at around 10:00 pm uk time and the fight will start 20 minutes after the ring walks. Of course main events mostly get delayed due to how undercard fights finish but we can safely assume that the mainevent fight Klitschko-Fury will start for sure before 11:00 pm. Sky Box office will have the live coverage in the UK via PPV and their coverage starts hour before the undercard fights at around 08:00 pm uk time. HBO will have live broadcasting in USA while RTL set to broadcast the fight in Germany.
Weigh-in Video: During the official weigh-in both Klitschko and Fury were very focused and Klitschko came out just 1 pound smaller than Fury. There were few words from Fury at the face off but Klitschko was having none of that as he turned around with a smile. Here is the video from friday weigh-ins
No way Fury won that fight. Must be fixed in Europa.
Really? What fight did you watch? yes, Fury is a bit of a dick, but he beat up Klitschko. Klitschko is the better boxer, but he lost the fight because he got hit and didn’t throw anything back….. That’s how you score in boxing…. No sour grapes please. Even the Ukraine press acknowledged that…..
Fury won it all day, what fight were you watching? Every judge agreed and this was fight was in Germany, which is known for total bias towards Klitschko. Dumbass!
