Mayweather vs Pacquiao is just more than a month away which will take place on 02 May 2015 in MGM Grand and what could turn out to be the greatest boxing night in recent history. Rumors are that the fight night might exceed $400 million in revenue making it by far the most lucrative fight ever. It not that Mayweather-Pacquiao need any major undercard fight to sell the night but showtime and HBO really have a chance to make it one memorable night if they can squeez couple of great fights on the undercard as well.
Mayweather’s last super fight against Canel Alvarez back in September 2013 was a success and that was largely down to a very competitive undercard which featured the Danny Garcia vs Lucas Matthyesse (which in itself could have been main event).
The PPV buys for Mayweather-Alvarez was 2.2 million on the night which was more than what was expected. Now going into the May 2015 showdown promoters will be looking to use to blue print of Mayweather-Alavarez card and put together a good looking undercard for Mayweather vs Pacquiao. So far only two undercard fight has been confirmed which will be Pearson vs El Harrak & Vasyl Lomachenko vs Gamalier Rodriguez. Both are quality fights another potential bout might Adrian Broner vs Amir Khan (not confirmed). Going into the last month we will be updating all the news and updates about Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight and the undercards.
What a shambles of an undercard. For the biggest fight ever the undercard should be all world class fighters. Khan broner Garcia Cotto Marquez Ect. Names Like That.
Yip crap undercard.as usual money is in the bank for promoters why bother to give the punters value for money
Everyone you named all have dates already nothing could be done. Khan could have been co main event but he turned sour grapes because he didn’t get the fight. But yeah it should be stack but it steel a pretty good card Abner Mares vs Leo Santa Cruz can stand on its own card Lomchenko is a hot commodity right now Jess hart is good prospect will see how it plays out.
Why have those big names on the undercard when they could be sold as main events separately? Boxing is a business. We were spoiled when Mayweather fought Canelo – no one expected Garcia vs. Matthysse to be featured on the undercard.
And like Darnell wrote, the fighters you named are already scheduled to fight later this year or have fought just recently.
You don’t need the A-list to make a great fight. This undercard looks solid.
