Both fighters meet back in March 2015, Sergey Kovalev earned a very impressive 8th round TKO win over Pascal. Jean Pascal gave it a real good go in the early exchanges and he came in pretty fit. Nobody gave him a chance against Kovalev but he was not blown away and made it a real good fight. Do he deserve a rematch ? I dont know just because he put up a fight he does not merit a rematch specially because if referee did not stop the fight Kovalev would have knocked him out.
Having said that Kovalev is waiting for Andre Ward to get on 175lbs and that is likely to happen after Ward’s March 2016 fight. After that Andre Ward might fight a tune-up against someone at the light-heavyweight before setting a up a high profile clash against Kovalev late in 2016 or early 2017.
