T20 world cup will be getting underway on 8th March 2016 with the provisional round matches while the super 10 stage will begin on 15th march. India will be hosting this year’s world cup and we can expect many batting friendly pitches all across Indian host cities. This will be the 6th edition of Twenty20 world cup and no team has won the world cup on more than one occasion which goes to show its once the tournament starts any team can go all the way and win it.
In the previous 5 T20 world cups batting has dominated bowling more often than not and if we look at the top 10 batsman with most runs in T20 world cup’s short history its obvious that the teams with better batting lineup will always prevail.

#1. Mahela Jayawardene (1016 runs in 31 matches)
Sri Lanka’s former captain Mahela Jayawardene is the highest run scorer in the history of Twenty20 world cups. He has scored impressive 1016 runs in 31 innings. His highest score was 100 against Zimbabwe in 2010 T20 world cup.
T.Dilshan and Kumar Sangakara also feature in top 4 with their impressive run tallies of 764 and 661 respectively. However both Jayawardene and Sangakara have retired.
