HBL Pakistan Super League will begin on 4th February 2016 and the first draft picks has been revealed. Five teams will be part of PSL 2016 and every team will have to comprise 16-man squad from five available categories. Pakistan T20 captain Shahid Afridi was the first pick for Peshawar Zalmi while they also notched up Muhammad Hafeez, Wahab Riaz and Kamran Akmal. Darren Sammy, Chris Jordan and James Allenby are the three oversees picks for Peshawar.
Peshawar Zalmi Squad For PSL 2016: As it was expected Peshawar Zalmi went all out to pick Shahid Afridi as their first player who will captain the side. Although Afridi is from Karachi but his roots are firmly from Peshawar and that was the key for him to be part of Peshawar side. Muhammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, Wahab Riaz are other local picks while Darren Sammy will provide much needed depth and experience in batting lineup.

The five categories are Platinum, Diamon, Gold, Silver and Emerging. Every team is required to pick atleast three players from first three categories Platinum, Diamond and Gold. While atleast two players from emerging category is must while 5 can be picked from Silver category. Atleast 4 oversees players should be drafted in the 16 man squad.
