Pune Supergiants has released the most number of players (12) ahead of 2017 auction. Having finished second from bottom it was not a surprise they wanted to overhaul the squad. However most of the big name players are retained and they have already spent around Rs. 46.90 Crores leaving them with Rs. 19.10 crores for Auction 2017.
Rising Pune Supergiants IPL Auction Results: Pune Supergiants made the headlines at the start of Auction 2017 buying much coveted Ben Stokes for ₹14.5 crore ($2.1 million) which left them short on available balance but they still managed to grab several low key yet quality players like Dan Christian (₹1 crore) and several local indian talent.

Pune was bought by “New Rising” company which is lead by Sanjiv Goenka. The official team name for team Pune is “Rising Pune Supergiants” with Dhoni confirmed as captain and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium as the home ground. They had a terrible first season in IPL as they finished 7th but having released as many as 12 players ahead of 2017 auction we can expect them to put things right this time around.
IPL Auction 2017 will be taking place on Monday, 20 February 2017 and Pune will be hoping to snatch up some quality bowlers specially couple of decent seamers to balance their squad. Their first season was terrible in terms of results but they can build on that with a quality Auction signings and put themselves right among the favourites for 2017 season.
IPL Auction 2017 Results: Pune might regret releasing Peter Handscomb who has been in the form of his life in last few months. We can expect Pune to bid for him in the Auction. Another name they are really serious about is English all-rounder Ben Stokes to strengthen their middle order and have some bowling options at the same time.
