After one year of absence German Grand Prix is back on the 2016 Formula 1 schedule and it will be taking place this weekend from Friday, 29th July to Sunday, 31st July in Hockenheim. It will be the last grand prix before F1 season goes into summer break and it will end the run of 6 grand prixs in 8 weeks run which has gained load of criticism. After the Hungary Grand Prix last weekend, Lewis Hamilton now leads the championship table by 6 points and we can safely assume another closely contested German Grand Prix between the two Mercedes drivers.

As far as the constructors championship is concerned, Mercedes is already way out of sight of their competition and should retain the title regardless of the results in remainder of the season. As the things stand, Hockenheim is here to stay as Nurburgring circuit has found itself in massive financial troubles. Hockenheim of course has been one of the most iconic F1 tracks and hosted races from 1977 to 2006 after which it alternated between Hockenheim and Nurburgring until massive financial problems forced both tracks to withdraw from 2015 season. Now back in the F1 calendar Hockenheim is here to stay which is a good news for both Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton has won 5 of the last six races and he looks in very good shape to retain his world title while Nico Rosberg has been under pressure after a superb start to the season. 6 points separate the top two and it looks like title race will go right down to the wire. While competition is fierce for third place with only 14 points separating drivers from 3rd to 6th place.
Hockenheim Circuit: So the F1 returns to iconic track which is a bit different with 4.574-kilometre circuit a bit less interesting than it had been in the past but with drivers championship hotting up it might prove the turning point of the season.
