Australia will be hosting football’s flagship competition of Asian region called “AFC Asian Cup” starting from 9th January 2015 and will be played through three weeks and the final will be played 31st Januay 2015 Sydney. This will be the 16th edition of Asian major national football competition and of course as we know the winners will get the chance to be part of FIFA confederations cup taking place 1 year before the next world cup.
This is the very first time that Asian cup will take place in Australia and the matches will be played on 5 different venues (more details are below). Total 16 teams will be participating in the competition. 10 teams qualified through Asian cup qualifying round while Japan were the 2011 asian cup winners while South Korea got the chance to be in Asian Cup through finishing 3rd in the last Asian Cup.

There are 16 teams and 4 groups where every team will be playing 3 group games from which top two teams will be making it to the knockout stages (quarterfinals) and than the semifinals and finals.

AFC ASIAN CUP 2015 Tournament Schedule & Dates:
The event will get underway on 9th January 2015 with the opening game between hosts Australia vs Kuwait in Melbourne Rectangular stadium.
