Germany are set take on Russia in the International friendly game followed by all important UEFA Nations League game against neighbors Netherlands in what should be a massive week for Germany national team and their head coach Jacqui Low who has been under pressure after string of poor results. Sweden vs Switzerland Preview: Sweden conceded just two goals in their three group games and they kept their best performance for the last game where it really mattered. They defeated Mexico 3-0 in the last group game which ultimately sealed their berth in next round and that too as group winners. Now the scenario changes and they will be favourites going into the game against Switzerland and it will be interesting to see how they cope with favourites tag.
Switzerland on the other hand finished behind Brazil winning 1 game and drawing the other two. They really heavily on their defensive work but do have some technically gifted players upfront who can score goal out of nothing really. Its all setup for another marathon of a match and it would not be a surprise if it goes all the way to penalties.
Team News & Possible Starting Lineups: Both Sweden and Switzerland have full squads to choose from and they don’t have any injury worries. However Switzerland’s Embolo flew home after their win over Costa Rica for his daughter’s birth but he is right back with the squad and should start. Swedish manager Janne Andersson is unlikely to make any changes in the starting lineup which played superbly against Mexico and we can expect Toivonen and Berg to continue upfront.
Switzerland’s 11 of the last 14 goals have come in second half and they make full use of their squad with substitutes playing their part coming on in second half. Their 4-2-3-1 system allows players like Shaqiri and Zuber to join attack more often and that will be the key for this Swiss side.
Match Predictions: Hard to predict this one as both teams are equally matched. However, Sweden are playing with so much confidence they will certainly the favourites. I do expect the Swedes to get the better of Switzerland on Tuesday and make it to the quarterfinals. Switzerland rely heavily on Xherdan Shaqiri who is the only Swiss player to have scored in knockout tie of a major tournament.
