After getting hammered in the hands of Bayern Munich (5-1) in the Champions League game Arsenal traveled to Green Lane to face non league side Sutton United in the FA Cup fifth round on monday night. It was a great atmosphere and a potential banana skin for Arsenal but they took the lead in 27th minute thanks to a wonderful strike after he cut inside from the right flank and unleased a low drive at the far corner. Sutton however were still in it by halftime.
Sutton United 0-1 Arsenal Highlights
[ Emirates FA Cup 2017 Match ]
27′ 0 – 1 Lucas Perez scored with a superb finish at the far pot to put Arsenal in lead.
Match Highlights
Sutton United made it this far in the FA Cup for the first time in their history and manager Paul Doswell will keep the faith in the same team which defeated Leeds Unied in the previous round. Sutton are only the second non-league team still alive in the competition the other being Lincoln City who reach the quarter finals after beating Burnley on Saturday. Sutton United are realistic and not thinking ahead of themselves. They just want to go out there and enjoy the day against one of England’s finest teams in Arsenal although on a difficult run of form at the moment.
Team News & Lineups: After that horrendous defeat against Bayern, we can safely assume Wenger will make several changes in the starting lineup. Alexis Sanchez has been given a extended break and won’t feature this weekend while Mesut Ozil might as well be given a rest. Theo Walcott, Lucaz Perez and Danny Welbeck are all set to start upfront while Mohamed Elneny to take the midfield with couple of youngsters.
This is how I expect both teams to lineup on Monday night.
Match Predictions: Arsenal are wounder and struggling in terms of form but they will go into the monday night game as odds on favourites. If Sutton United can keep the scoreline 0-0 for first 10-15 minutes that will be success but I can’t see them containing Arsenal for long. I am going with a comfortable 5-0 win for Arsenal in this one.
