FC Barcelona took on Real Madrid in the Spanish la Liga game this sunday night and billed as the title decider with Barcelona looking to extend the lead at the top of the table to 4 points with a home win against Real Madrid. Carl Ancolotti side had won the earlier meeting in the season by 3-1 at Santiago Bernabue but going into the game Barcelona were heavy favorites to win all three points.
Real Madrid started the game stronger creating couple of half chances in the opening 15 minutes but it was the home side who took the lead pretty much against the run of play. A free kick from left flank was dipped in the box by Lionel Messi and frenchman Jeremy Mathieu was on hand to head home the opening goal of the game.
Neymar had a superb chance to double the lead at half hour mark but he missed a sitter and straight after that Ronaldo scored on the other end making the game 1-1 on the night. After that Real Madrid pushed and pressed Barcelona and match them in every aspect with 50-50 possesion leading teams to 1-1 at the break.
After the halftime Barcelona started to dominate the game and a great ball over the top to Luis Suarez, who controlled expertly with the first touch and scored with his second which was a superb low hard finish on the bottom far corner making it 2-1.
From that on it was all Barcelona as they controlled the pace of the game and created many chances on the counter attack, Lionel Messi had a couple of chances to make it 3-1 but he missed the target, Neymar was guilty of missing two or three good chances where he could have passed the ball to Neymar but opted to shoot.
