Group D looked like heading to a very straight forward conclusion after the first two games but the final games provided some much needed drama. Its hard to seperate who has been the worst side in the group between Czech Republic and Turkey as they took on each other. Turkey took the lead early on with Burak Yilmaz scoring in just 10th minute but Czech Republic had their fair share of chances to get back on level terms only for them to squander chance after chance. Ozan Tufan scored in second half to put the game to bed.
Czech Republic 0-2 Turkey
[European Championship 2016 ]
10′ 0 – 1 Burak Yilmaz scores with a neat finish in 10th minute to put Turkey 1-0 up against struggling Czech Republic.
65′ 0 – 2 Ozan Tufan secured the win midway through second half when Ozan Tufan scored to make it 2-0 but it was enough to get Turkey a place in the knockout rounds.
The game will be played at the Stade Felix Bollaert-Delelis on Tuesday night and Turkey will be looking to end their campaign on a high having been out played in the opening two games against Croatia and Turkey. They have yet to score a goal and their own fans are booing number of players in the team specially Arda Turan so they have a pride to play for while Czech republic just like Turkey go outplayed for most of the two games but a late surge against Croatia earned them a 2-2 draw which keeps their hopes alive.
Expected Lineups: Czech Republic will be without Tomas Rosicky who got injured and even if Czech were to qualify for next round he won’t b available. While rest of the squad is healthy and fit to play only concerns are Limbersky and Sivok going into the game only one yellow card away from suspension but that does not matter as this is the most important game for Czech where they must win to stand a chance.
Turkey don’ have any major injury concern and we can safely assume that Arda Turan might be dropped from the starting lineup. This is how I expect both teams to lineup.
Match Predictions: Both teams have looked terrible so far in the opening two games but Czech Republic will go into the game with more confidence after their unlikeliest of draw having been dominated by Croatia. I am going with Czech to produce a good show and win all three points sending them through to knockouts.
