Premier League champions Leicester City started their league campaign with a away fixture against newly promoted Hull City side and it proved to be quite a premier league opener. Hull set up with a compact defense and made life difficult for Leicester City for most part. Adama Diomande scored for Hull City with a strange overhead kick while Riyad Mahrez scored penalty after the break to make it 1-1 on the day. Watch full match highlights here.
Hull City 2-1 Leicester City Highlights
[ Premier League 2016-17 season ]
45′ 1 – 0 Adama Diomande scored just before the halftime break totally against the run of play to put Hull in surprise lead.
47′ 1 – 1 Riyad Mahrez goal just after the break brought champions right back into the game.
57′ 2 – 1 Robert Snodgrass scored in second half to turn the game around and win the first three points of the season for crisis club Hull City.
Leicester City are coming into this game on the back of 2-1 defeat in the hands of Manchester United in Community Shield but manager and players know the real test begin now as teams will show the respect which will ultimately make their task harder than last season. Hull City are early favourites to go down in their first season back in the premier league and that is largely down to a very thin squad which has endured a terrible pre-season.
Hull City has yet to announced their new manager after Steve Bruce resigned after earning promotion. Former United assistant manager Mike Phelan will take charge of the team as caretaker manager. Hull City has yet to sign a player as well while their star midfielder Mohamed Diame transferred to Newcastle. They players available for Hull will have to play out of their skin throughout the season to even stand a chance stay up.
Team News & Lineups: Hull City has managed to hold on to their key player Abel Hernandez who scored 21 goals last season helping the team to promotion. he will be their major source of goals while Leicester City sold Kante while Riyadh Mahrez is widely expected to join Arsenal. But their new signings are stelling right in the team without much of a fuss including Ahmad Musa who has impressed so far in first two outings for the club.
Match Predictions: United dominated Leicester in the community shield game in the first half but Foxes came out stronger in the second when Ahmad Musa came on as sub. I can fully expect him to start upfront with Vardy with four fluid midfield hoping to keep their last season form. I am going with a comfortable win for Leicester City in this one.
