Extended Highlights
Louis Van Gaal side are still struggling with injuries as they went into the game against Sunderland, Michael Carrick was ruled out for the game way before while Robin Van Persie was stretched off in the last premier league game and will miss atleast a month of action. Manchester United started with Rademal Falcao & Rooney upfront with Ashley Young and Di Maria playing on the wings, Ander Herrera and Daley Blind played in the central midfield roles.
Just like in the previous few weeks United found it extremely hard to penetrate the opposition defense and at times it looked they dont have a final ball in their armour. The game 0-0 at the break with not much goal mouth action. But Louis Van Gaal replaced Angel Di Maria and brought youngster Adnan Januzaj after the break and United did looked more of a threat going forward. It took 64th minute to get some real attacking action to take place when Falcao was brought down by former United player John Oshea in the box and referee awarded a penalty which was converted by Rooney (it was his 100th home goal in premier league). But referee sent off the wrong man instead of Oshea Wes Brown got his marching orders.
United had more of the ball and space after the goal and sending off and they scored second through Wayne Rooney who headed home from close range to make it 2-0 and 3 points for United. Full Match Highlights and Motd video will be available shortly.
