Newcastle United started their 2015-16 league campaign with impressive come from behind win at St James Park this sunday afternoon. Southampton took the lead through Italian striker Pelle but two quick goals on either side of the break by Cisse and Wijnaldum put Newcastle into 2-1 lead only for Shane Long’s late goal in second half to spoil the party at St James.

Southampton [1 – 0] – Graziano Pelle scored with superb headed goal to make it 1-0 for the away side, Cedric Soares delivered a neat cross at the far post where Pelle beat his marker to head home Southampton in the lead.
Newcastle United [1 – 1] – A pretty similar build up and goal by Cisse brought the game back on level terms just before the break. A lopped crossed from the left side beat Southampton keeper and fell nicely to Cisse who header home a pretty simple goal.
Newcastle United [2 – 1] – Georginio Wijnaldum scored with a superb header after some nice work by Cisse who released Gabriel Obertan on the right flank with a nice chipe pass whose cross into the box was meet nicely by Wijnaldum resulting in the debut goal for former PSV man.
Southampton [2 – 2] – Shane Long‘s 79th minute goal brought the game back on level terms again and the game finished 2-2 where both team would feel they could have got more from what was a very open game.
