Poland took on Switzerland in the 2016 UEFA European Championship first round of 16 game this Saturday afternoon and it turned out to be a very competitive game where Poland took the lead towards the end of first half. Jakub Blaszczykowski scored in second game running and the goal came after Switzerland constant pressure at Poland goal. Grosicki was put through after a counter attacking move and his cut back pass was fired home by Blaszczykowski to make it 1-0 for Poles.
Poland 1-1 Switzerland Highlights
[ UEFA European Championship 2016 ]
39′ 0 – 1 Jakub Blaszczykowski scored in second game running to put Poland in the lead.
82′ 1 – 1 Xherdan Shaqiri scored with a spectacular scissor kick to equalize for Switzerland.
Team News & Lineups: Poland will be going into the game on the back of impressive win over Ukraine but their only concerns are the form of Robert Lewandowski who has yet to score in the competition while hard working midfielder Bartosz Kapustka is set to miss the game through suspension. Lukasz Fabianski is likely to start in goal with W. Szczesny missing through injury. Blaszczykowski might be given the nod to start having scored the winner against Ukraine coming on as second half sub.
Switzerland played out a 0-0 draw against hosts France and go into the knockout stages full of confidence. Swiss are likely to stick with their strongest lineup with Embolo playing upfront while trio of Shaqiri, Mehmedi and Behrami to play in attacking roles while Xhaka to start in central midfield role alongside Dzemaili.
Match Predictions: Poland alongside Germany are the only team yet to concede in the competition and thats down to work horse mentality installed by national team coach Adam Navalka. Switzerland will have to play on top of their game to get the better of this highly rated Poland side who in all fairness should make it through to the semifinals atleast looking at the quality squad they posses. This will be another tight game and I am expecting Poland to sneak it to the quarterfinals with an odd goal.
Poland should reach the finals if Robert Lewandowski can find his form. Polska na zwycestwo!!!
