Gareth Bale has finally put pen to paper and signed a lucrative 5 year deal with Real Madrid and set to stay at the club till 2022 with the new contract extension. Both Bale representative and Real Madrid were in negotiations for best part of last 6 months and Bale camp demanded as salary matching Cristiano Ronaldo but at the end they agreed for a £18 million a salary which makes him the third highest paid player in the world only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gareth Bale Signs 5-Year Contract Extension: Real Madrid announced on Sunday that Gareth Bale has signed financially improved 5-year deal to stay at the club till 2022. With the new deal he takes no.3 position in the highest paid footballers list overtaking Neymar who recent signed a contract extension himself. The news comes after both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos signed their respective deals. However Ronaldo remains the highest paid player not only in Real Madrid but also worldwide and it is widely expected he will also signed a new contract extension in december.
The new deal will take Bale’s basic salary to around £18 million but with performance related bonuses it might reach £20 million a year. The biggest performance related clause included in the contract is off Bale winning the Ballon d’Or and in that case his basic salary will automatically increase by further £3 million a year.

Real Marid president Florentino Perez will hope the new deal will ward off the interest from Manchester United who have been very keen to sign Gareth Bale for another record transfer fee. Bale’s previous deal was suppose to run till 2019 where he was earning around £256,000 a week.
