Conor McGregor is set to take on Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title this Saturday Night, 12 November 2016 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. This is one of the most talked about fight this year and the build has been crazy with Eddie Alvarez and McGregor running their mouths off for months leading to the big night. It started all in the very first official press conference back in September 2016 when McGregor poured insult to Alvarez about the money he will be making and we take a look at how both fights will earn for this big clash.
McGregor vs Alvarez UFC 205 Purse Payouts: Obviously, McGregor being the bigger draw will get way more money than Alvarez for the big UFC 205 headline fight. The official purse for Conor McGregor is believed to be slightly over $3 million just like his most recent fight against Nate Diaz rematch. While Eddie Alvarez will get $1 million in disclosed purse. Both fighters will also be entitled to $150,000 win bonus.
However Conor McGregor is expected to clear way more than the officially disclosed purse with his tiered base contract with UFC. He will be making anywhere between $3 to $5 for every PPV buy on saturday night. Depending on PPV numbers he might clear another $6 to $7 million if PPV buys cross 1 million. The fight is billed as Champions vs Champion but both fighters are worlds apart as far as potential payments are concerned.
FIGHTER | DISCLOSED | WIN BONUS | PPV SHARE |
Conor McGregor | $3 million | $100,000 | McGregor has a tiered base PPV contract with UFC and if UFC 205 where to do over 1 million PPV buys, that will take McGregor potential earnings to around $7 million for this fight. |
Eddie Alvarez | $1 million | Eddie Alvarez also have fraction of share from PPV but not anywhere near what McGregor has. Eddie Alvarez can clear around $2 from his nights work if he win. |
Conor McGregor looked like a bigger fighter tonight versus Alvarez. Massive for a lightweight with incredible accuracy while striking. Good luck to anyone in the lightweight division trying to take him out.
