Wimbledon Tennis Championship is the flagship grand slam event in tennis calendar every year and buying tickets for a specific day or match can be a daunting task so here is a small guide on how can you get your hands on Wimbledon Tickets at face value and dont have to pay over the top prices. Buying Wimbledon tickets for the later stages of the competition needs carefull planning atleast a few months ahead of the competition. So here are few ways in which you can buy tickets for wimbledon with rather ease.
If you live in Uk or you have relatives there you can participate and Public Ballot where fans can request a application form by sending paid envelop and than filling the form and sending it back to P.O. BOX 98, London SW19 5AE. Application form can be requested after September and must be submited before 1 january. Ballot results come out in February and lucky winners are allocated tickets and seats (although its a random process and you can get tickets for any random day)
Queuing outside the courts:
Public Ballot is kind of a lottery and you can not buy tickets through ballot for a specific day, but if you are willing to get up early and que up outside the courts, the gates are open at 6:00 am and you can buy tickets in person with cash. Remember to have cash in hand because credit/debit cards are not used. (though atm mechines are nearby)
There are 500 tickets every day for centre court, court 1 and 2 (apart from last 4 days) and there are around thousand ticket for general admission in other courts. So if you que up early you have a good chance that you can get a ticket.
Afternoon queuing: There is another option where you can get tickets for evening sessions ( you will have to pay around £8 to £20 for admission to grounds where you can que up and buy any available resale tickets from ticket stall (Kiosk).
Buying Resale Tickets: Court ticket holders can return the tickets if they no longer want to stay all day, they are refund part of the ticket and those tickets go on sale again. which can be bought after 2:00 pm uk time by queers outside the courts.
Buying Online through Ticket distribution sites:
Ticketmaster.co.uk & Viagogog.co.uk are two authentic sites where you can buy tickets online. You need to make an account at ticketmaster.co.uk and check for the dates when the tickets will go on sale. Here you can pick and choose the day and matches you want to get the tickets for but they will be way more expensive than buying through Ballot or queuing in person. Tickets starts from £500 pounds for centre court and can reach somewhere around £800 to £900 for last 4 days.
Buying Hospitality Packages:
Another more expensive option is to buy a full hospitality package from the official partners of wimbledon. Of course hospitality packages dont come cheap but if you are visiting Wimbledon from outside UK this is the best option to go for as you will get accommodation, tickets and traveling all sorted without much of a fuzz. here are some of the official partners of wimbledon providing hospitality packages.
